Remember having five of your friends over later that night to sing all of those songs at the top of your lungs while eating cookie dough, dancing in your pj’s or fixing each other’s hair with banana clips and neon-colored scrunchies?

Cover Girl takes you back to those carefree days of over-teased hair and slap bracelets.

Growing up in Sulphur Springs, Texas, Mandy Rowden (vocals, lead guitar) had a dream of someday rocking the faces off the masses. In November 2008, that dream was realized with the creation of Cover Girl. Featuring Carolyn Somes (bass) and Melodie Zapata (drums), Cover Girl is quickly becoming one of Austin’s favorite cover bands, ranking #2 in the 2010-'11 Austin Chronicle Music Poll.

With the tag line “All ladies-Mostly 80’s”, every show is a totally rad dance party complete with covers from the band’s musical influences which include The Ramones, Billy Idol, 'Til Tuesday and The Bangles. When these ladies start rockin’, you will Safety Dance, you will Walk Like an Egyptian; you simply won’t be able to help yourself. And if you can Whip It better than anyone else on the floor, you may even win yourself a cool coconut shell bra or racy novel as a prize!
